Style Makeover - Before & After (Episode 1)

Featured Elevated Client - Josephine C.

Meet Josephine.
A mild-mannered young banking professional who has more than mild-mannered aspirations, and found the motivation and courage to explore them.  You see, underneath that seemingly safe, reserved persona that feels much more at home in front of a computer screen than under the spotlight, is a courageous young woman who has decided to pursue one of her dreams and try her hand at modelling and acting!  Josephine took her first steps of coming out of her shell by contacting Elevations to help her define her new image, one that would Elevate her above the mundane and above the casual/comfortable perception that she has shared with the world for all of these years.   She put herself in the capable hands of Elevations lead stylist, Chris, and together they carved out many new options that Josephine herself would not have thought that she could "rock" with any confidence, and would show her versatility on screen.  Chris not only offered clothing options, but he also helped her understand the finer points of the industry that she was about to conquer, and emphasized the importance of not losing herself in her attire, but to use her attire to amplify her persona so that it is still all of her that comes across on film, as well as when she's walking down the street.  You hear a lot about "swagger" these days, well, Josephine's swag game is about to launch into the stratosphere!

See for yourself.  Check out Josephine before (safe and young looking):

Elevations in 2011 (Part 4)

Elevations @ The Junos!...
Elevations hit the red carpet earlier this year at the Junos... well, Chris himself wasn't there, but Elevations was represented. We got the opportunity and privilege to style Silver (formerly known as Solitair), one of Toronto's most underrated artists. Recently Silver has moved away from his signature hip hop sound to explore different avenues of musicology by showcasing his vocal talents and refocusing his creative energy. The result is some refreshingly new music that goes further to define Silver as an "artist" rather than just a rapper. Keep your eye on this guy, his trajectory will place him on your radio stations and TV, and you want to make sure that when he does show up there, that you let your friends know that he must be good... Elevations styled him!

Silver was looking for a distinguished throw back with a dark touch of victorian opulence.  We managed to achieve a look that he felt captured the direction that he is taking his music in with a touch of urban vampire.

Elevations in 2011 (Part 3)

Elevations @ LG Fashion Week Spring 2011  (Part 2)

One of the great shows of this past Fashion Week was Basch by Brandon Dwyer. Brandon is an acquaintance of mine, and I try to never miss his shows. I respect his art for the elegant functionality, and unique flavour. His infusion of colour is surprising, yet draws you in. You can always identify a Basch piece. It epitomizes sexy elegance. Check out some of his fall/winter showing...Amazing!

Elevations in 2011

"It's been a long time... I shouldn't have left you." - Rakim (legendary rap icon)

Future style icons, we've done some restructuring in 2011, but we're still alive and kicking. We've been busy in 2011 with a few great projects, as well as attending a few of the spring fashion events in order to keep you in style for the upcoming fall season.
In the upcoming posts, we intend to share with you what we've been up to.
One of our first projects in 2011 was to style an international artist from India named Ali Quli Mirza for the Anokhi Magazine 5th Annual Gala. Ali was a great client! He was open to suggestions and we collaborated to give him an "Elevated" look, that had his fans going crazy. Check the pics and footage of his fantastic performance.
